Amelia Grace Shiels is an emerging artist in the Canadian freelance scene, performing regularly in Toronto and its surrounding communities. Taking special interest in chamber music and collaborative projects, she enjoys the integration of diverse influences in creating relevant modern works both on and off the stage.
Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia and raised in the maritimes, music making has always been an amicable affair. Influenced early on by small ensembles, coffeehouses and community recitals, Amelia values the direct impact music has on its listeners and is devoted to the growth of live music in Canada’s active music scene.
Amelia completed her Artist Diploma at the Royal Conservatory’s Glenn Gould School in 2015, studying under Chris Gongos, associate principal horn of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. She also received her Bachelor of Music from Mount Allison University in 2013, working with professors Alan Klaus and Linda Pearse.
